I love Vic alpine, cold as shit at the moment, but still my fav part down here.
I've even done that road on a mountain bike all the way to Cerberus. Pretty sweet with the adrenaline, the speed, road conditions, and views all rolled into one.

Great idea, although its not exactly on the way to the destination, got a few ranges before the alpine region even starts, so that puts a massive dint in your straight easterly path.
