Aquascape Planned, Finished And Finalised
so i was able to pick up more than enough base rock from a fellow reefuge member who was happy to give it to me for dirt cheap! cheers once again @mattalbs
i got some really nice pieces and i have smaller bits that i may use to fill in some bits. still waiting on the weir cover and sand till i can start filling the tank. im thinking of going with carribsea west carribean reef sand 1-2mm mixed with normal serinity reef sand 1-2mm. is it okay to mix the sand together? only reason im doing it is to get the beneficial properties of the carribsea live sand.
i really like the scape as it has some nice ledges and nice shaded areas. also has some great height and looks. i played around with it and the final scape looks almost the same as the one i had outside of the tank so im pretty happy. cant wait to see it filled with corals and fish!!

thanks guys! really wanted to maximise as much space as i could in the tank for the inhabitants to swim freely, whilst also taking into account what corals im getting and where ill be placing them. so all in all, it was a well thought out scape on my behalf which took a lot of me looking at the tank empty from afar and envisioning where i wanted to go. looks like all the staring into an empty tank worked a treat :P

and haha i will get around to doing that @Sam Parker. im surprised someone was diligent enough to notice :P

Looks really good :) should chuck it in a tub and start cycling it!

What lights are you going to use??

Also make sure you have enough space on the sides between the rock and glass to get a scraper through ;)

why use a tub when the tank is good to fill!

I second the point about leaving room from the glass, I have one spot I cant get with my magnet and it drives me insane!

thanks Andrew. yeah was thinking of doing that but i figured cycling it in the aquarium would be good because theres nothing in there so wouldnt pose too many issues. it may leach some phosphates but i will have reactors on the system anyway to handle it. and already taken the algae scraper thing into account. ive left enough room to do so ;) im going an LED system that Dave from Deer Park has brought in. pretty much designed it himself and got a manufacturer from China to build it for him. All approved and gotta say it looks and performs very well. it uses a mix of cree and bridgelux LEDS with 120 degree lenses. it pretty much looks like a illumagic blaze :) once i get mine ill be sure to give it a full run down
