So, have spoken with Lifestyle Aquariums in Deer Park, David made some seriously good points, and have decided that the one way valve was suicide, one snail or algae in there could cause a leak and BAM, 1000L of water emptied.

I'll be extending the weir/overflow instead now :)

Also have just had the Drill guide sent to me so huge thanks to @GhostRPH for getting it here so quickly, hopefully I can be ready to drill on Sunday!

One way valves/check valves on marine tank - death!!!!

Good luck for the drilling and remember, lots of lube (run the hose) and let the drills weight and the bit do the work (just let it grind away and dont use too much pressure to force it to cut)

Slow and Steady saves the pain & Lube, lots of Lube!!!
