Brendo's Random pics
So I got myself a new toy today a Canon EOS 600D, and with Harvey Normans promo I also got a Canon EOS 1100D. So heres my first few pics with the 600D, not the best but it's a start!

Tobi, she's wanting to play eyeing off her ball

Sam, she's not wanting anything to do with playing at all

Tobi again, she's got to be the worlds fluffiest dog, rainy weather doesn't help either

All these are shot using a Canon EF50mm f/1.8 II lens without flash. More to come soon!

Yeah looks like she knows it too! We rescued both of these dogs from a neighbours brother from going to the vet and being put down, as he couldn't keep them as he has cancer.. We really didn't want the dogs but we took them anyway, as we couldn't bear to see them put down :)

Nice pics - I am looking to get the same camera. What lenses did you get? And, if you don't mind me asking, how much??

How is the screen and focus speed in 'Live View' mode as I have read that it can be quite slow??

I got the twin lens kit Shane. It came with an EF-S 18-55mm & EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 both with IS. I also got an accessory pack which contained the EF 50mm F/1.8 II & EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III lenses. All up about 3 grand of gear for about $1,600 bucks (including the promo 1100D). I got these on Flexirent at Harvey Norman. The 600D twin lens kit was $1,599 if you were the buy it there without the accessory pack (they have a promo for this wkend only where you get an 1100D for free if you spend $1600 or more). Haven't really had a play with the settings as yet, just wanted to run the battery out before charging it fully so I left it in auto. I'll let you know what the sceen and focus speed is like in LiveView once the battery is charged and I start playing again.

I could have considered a 90mm but I figured with 4 lenses I got enough to keep me occupied for quite a while, and the bases covered. In saying that tho the 55-250 is a multifocus macro as well :). The LiveView mode I find is actually not that bad. It's not a fast as say a proper video camera but it's good enough for photography IMO

Keep taking photos. Only way to learn and improve. I like the 2 shots above.
Cute dog as well :)

Thanks Sidd, this is the first DSLR camera I've owned and could tinker with myself. I read your basics post, and rhat gave me a better understanding. I'll be posting some cool frog shots shortly

I used the 50mm lens for these shots (it was the one I had on my camera, as I didn't want to go and change lenses and have the frog hopping off in the mean time. The bugger needless to say stayed put for a good couple of minutes! Thats Murphy's for you) on Program AE setting. ISO 400, with flash and outdoor light on. Basic editing using Photobucket (auto corect, changed brightness and contrast)
