Randy recommends limiting the increase to 100ppm per day - I trust Randy :worship
That's what I read from reef central ... LOL ...

When I dosed 60 ml in 1 go, Aviad (Red Sea) said that I should be reading the manual and I shouldn't be dosing that much ... by calculation, 60 ml would raise 33 ppm and he doesn't agree to it.

Thanks @MagicJ !

Anyone else? thoughts? experience?

Be careful with the alk levels they suggest as well, with carbon dosing (nopox) the levels they suggest for LPS usually results in burning and polyp ejection

Quick stats on where am I at the moment with manual dosing ... I'm still figuring out what's my uptakes are ... Ca seems not to deplete at all .. although I got a feeling it may have been test error .... just a gut feeling....

All, when you do WC and if you use Red Sea normal (not blue pro), do you dose Mg and Alk in the WC bucket? From memory, Alk is 7.7 and Mg is 1230.

If I'm aiming to hold Mg at 1350 and Alk at 8.0~8.5, wouldn't I need to dose the fresh ASW? Just to maintain that consistency.

I mean I could always do WC first and let it mix, which logically will drop level of Mg and Alk a tad bit and then dose.

All, is it possible that Ca hardly depletes in a reef tank?

Weekly WC husbandry and last Ca dose was on 23/01/2016.

Your calcium usage depends entirely on what you have in your tank.

If your only have soft corals with no shrimp, snails, clams etc then you will use little calcium.
