Coralline Issues
Hi all, So my ATO got stuck on and dumped ~15lts of RODI into the nano (mm's from overflowing the sump) and dropped the salt level really low. So midnight to 1am Wednesday I was doing a ~50% water change.
Now a couple days late, the coralline algae that was finally taking hold on the new dry rock and on my established live rock started going a bright fluorescent pink insteat of a deep purple.
Today, much of it has bleached out to white :( Whats going on?
Even the macro algae seems to be doing the same and dying off. Corals all look fine and are opening up, fish, crabs and what not all look to be healthy and eating fine.

Also I did a water test. Alk is up to 10.5 instead of 8 (RODI has bicarb in it), but everything else is normal
PH 8.3
Ni 0
Na 5~10
Phos 0~.25
Ammonia 0
Salt back to 1.025

Need to try to get that phosphate down to about 0.05-0.03.

I would guess shock for the algae mate, give it a few days. How low did the salinity go?

I experience the same with the coralline algae on my wavemakers when I give them a wash in freshwater.

It will all grow back.

Sorry typo on the phos, 0.025, API though so, accuracy isn't too good. Only just changes colour.
Well everything else seems to be ok and the salinity is spot on but will be doing yet another water change tomorrow.
Just looks terrible after waiting a month for the colour to spread and now its all bleaching out.

edit// the salinity dropped to 1.021 on the night of the water dump. brought back up to 1.024 (ran out of NSW, didn't have any salt on hand).
