Did they take the dud pump back to find the electrical fault?
Or was there other issue with the pump...

Oh honey! I had to hold my laughter... He held the pump under running water and turned it on to check for an electrical fault. ;)

Prior to that he had been trying to tell me in all these ways how it was my fault the pump died- starting with deeply analyzing the impeller.
