Ok so as I was starting to become super pissed of with skimmer sending out a trillion micro bubble I started to look for a new skimmer.
When I walked across this photo and I found 1 tiny difference to my tank.

When I swapped the large pump to the left side and put small to right I didn't twig

But the small pump was facing intake into the centre of tank.

In the photo you can see it points away.

So hey I went and turned it around.

The difference is Night and day.

No the 1200lph pump in the right hand chamber was facing the inside of tank instead of facing the outside.
So it was only a few 40mm of the glass when it faces the outside it has a good 10cm gap to suck water from.

That pump on right was on wrong.

well, it was a water height issue then - just not with the skimmer :P
