unfortunately, mimicking suitable breeding conditions for a marine tank is a whole lot more difficult when compared to fresh water. are they your run of the mill synodontis catfish anthony or something a bit more special?

not a good idea to mix them, need different water conditions.

Will be Malawi only, mainly peacocks
I can't believe it matters so much as they are so far removed from their natural environment , I reckon your fish would easily be F10 generation plus. Give them sweet old Sydney tap water and they all will thrive. My 2 cents opinion ;)

Using Malawi buffer as I had one unopened but will switch to bi-carb once it runs out.

Kh around 200ppm.

They other problem with mixing the two lakes is the behaviour of the fish. Lake Tanganyika are more territorial, but Mbuma are much aggressive when feeding, just not a good mix.
