A little update, week and a half ago I got a Coral Banded Shrimp who seems to be going well and Saturday just gone I got a Green Coral Goby. Once in, he copped a few nibbles from my Bi Colour Dotty back and pretty much haven't seen him since to get a pic to post. Hope he is still around and eventually comes out.

Yep thats him. Hmmm sounds like could be a drama. Maybe should get rid of Dotty back and possibly get a royal gramma if the kids still want that fish. Thoughts ?

Would the coral banded shrimp pose a problem for the goby ?

All my corals seem to be doing pretty well from what I can tell with the exception of my Zoas. I have 3 different zoa pieces and none of them are really opening. Dont know what the go is :banghead

Tanks looking good mate!
Best way I found to stabilise your PH is to open the lid a bit, get some better gas exchange going. Should be able to stop using the buffer then.
Doesn't apear to have much of a bioload so I'm sure you could get away without a skimmer for a while if you keep doing regular water changes.
Measure the skimmer compartment:

Width/depth:
Water height:

Thanks.

I don't have PH test kit myself. The other thing I know has been up a little is Nitrate. It has been at 10ppm each test since I got my kits.
I have been doing 20L water changes each week since I got the tank so hopefully everything that I cant test is running all good. Just cant get zoas to show their face.

Will measure the compartment and let you know.

Cheers

OK,

I know the overall rear compartment measurements are 100mm front to back, 440mm total width which is divided into three compartments and the depth would be around 380mm.

I finally found th ehiding spot of my Coral Goby. He is wedged right in under a large piece of rock on the sand. Kinda on an angle. I know he moved a little so he is still alive. Is he well......no idea ! Is he eating....no idea !

I Guess time will tell as to how he goes. I am looking to get rid of the dotty back so maybe that will give him a bit more confidence once i do.

test the water last night with the only tests I have and results are as follows:

Calcium 440ppm
dKH 8.5
Alkalinity 3.02 meq/l
Magnesium 1300ppm
Nitrate 10ppm.

Apart from the nitrate being a little high, i think everything seems like it is going ok.

Still no sign of my zoas.....:rage.

Decided to get rid of my Bi colour Dotty Back for the sake of the other fish and any new fish we decide to add at a later date. Catching him....hmmmmmm. Not a good decision haha. Google.......then 10 minutes later, this !

Successful sale !

This was about a week ago now and still no sign of my green coral goby :cry!. I had found one or two of his hiding spots before this but no idea where he is hiding now.

Assuming he is still alive because water parameters still seem to be going ok.

New addition after the dotty back left the premises was a fire tail goby.

After a day or two he also seems to be a shy not coming out to say hi type of fellow. :(.

Did an RO dip of my zoas about week and half ago now. Still not much happening there :banghead.

I have moved the hammer down to the sand and put zoas up higher closer to my light see if that helps them at all

Have to wait and see.

Thanks for looking and always happy for comments and suggestions as to what i could do better or change.
