Under the DT I was going to put a sheet of ply for support and on top of that I was wondering what would be better styrofoam or rubber matting. What seems to be the popular choice?

I actually saw, at bunnings, squares of that playground rubber, I think it might be useful for larger tanks

I remember someone on FB was going to do that. A large volume of people said "don't ". I can't remember the reasons why for the life if me.

I've got yoga mat under my Nano. Seems fine so far... *touches wood*

Too squishy I believe it was, way too soft and compresses really quickly

I have also seen some of these 'rubber' type products degrade over time and end up sticking to things.

Styrofoam has been used for this purpose for a long time, and I see no reason to change.
