@dr_schell do you know much about identifying species of macro? I have a fascinating one that looks like lawn (sort of) and I can't get an id on it. My contact at the uni is away overseas for 4 months. I could send you a small sample to identify??? (I only have a small amount).

From my perspective....

I agree that, as a general rule, this should be supplied on a first in first out basis.

But, @Fishy was originally much higher in the waiting list and was left out when it was redone. More importantly, I will not be posting anything whilst overnight temperatures are less than 5 degrees, and no doubt considerably less in the hold of a plane. I do not have any heatpacks and I don't think the extra expense is warranted. Whilst I had some initial problems getting this to grow, it seems to have recovered enough to pass some around. I just happen to be traveling to Launceston next week and thought I would take the opportunity to give some to the only other Tasmanian on the list. So, as I won't be posting any until the weather starts to warm up a bit, Fishy was my only option.

I think we need to allow common sense to prevail :)

@rockerpeller - for those that are able too I think there is a need to put more than 1 back into the system. A number of recipients have lost there's for various reasons and they effectively need to be covered. And, yes, the recipient needs to cover any postage costs.

Now, Let's keep this excellent initiative by @ijg3956 moving along :)

As far as I'm concerned, I'll be passing ours on to whoever is top of the last when the time comes :-)

I've moved mine under MH and it's growing pretty good now. I thought I had lost it under the low wattage lights for a while.

Sorry, don't have one right now, but can take one and post.

Strange that even google images doesn't have anything that remotely resembles it.

To describe it, typical short clumpy chaetomorpha with tightly bunched straight stalks very short in length. Bright green colour.

Like you said before, juvenile bristleworms and other micro fauna just love to live within it to eat detritus within the clump. In fact, the samples AI sent over did include micro fauna as its impossible to remove it.

sounds like it may be Cladophora prolifera. This typically grows like a short lawn and is similar in appearance to Chaetomorpha. Is circumtropical in distribution. An image off the web of this species is provided below:

Photo 2 is very similar. Could be it. The only difference of note is the fronds appears shorter, stiffer and more tightly packed. It is very similar though and I think you nailed it.....:)
