A CONTROVERSIAL plan to dump three million cubic metres of dredge spoil into the one of our greatest icons has been scrapped.

The consortium behind the plan to dump material into the Great Barrier Reef has confirmed it will resubmit a proposal to Environment Minister Greg Hunt as early as next week.

Great news! I was terrified when it was approved and thought that there would be so much community outrage that it would never go ahead, so this is a good result, for now. I will await the news regarding the new proposal before I decide if people won over politics just yet.

It is just one of the mind-bogglingly stupid ideas to come out of our modern governments, the ideas that are destroying faith in the political system...

I am under no illusion as to the control business has over government. One of the fundamental flaws of a modern capitalist economy.... I didn't want to start whinging about politics!
