Jan 2017 Tank Update - Picture Heavy
Tank is slowly being stocked with SPSs again, anemone decided to move onto the SPS area and is causing grief and frags from Sustainable Reef are colouring up nicely.

A couple of months ago I plugged the Wavemakers to the DOSEmate, to provide variable flow throughout the day and its paying off. It is the first time I see both SPS and LPS happy in such a small tank.

The Large anemone dropped a baby long ago and now the baby split up in two. Hopefully they will become shelter for the black pair of ocellaris.

It is the first time I try to keep a Spider sponge, it is not going very well and its tips are slowly disolving. The addition of vinegar promoted the growth of a lot of sponges all over the tank amd I thought it would help the Spider sponge to thrive. The simbiotic zonathids on the other hand, is responding very well to Reefroids and frozen rotifers.

Also got a aquacultured baby Squamosa but couldn't take a decent picture.

Splendid amount of diversity on display. Looks like it would be quite rewarding to maintain as well as look at.

I'm interested in your vinegar adding. I'm guessing it's not for nutrient removal but just to increase bacteria for filter feeders? Is it a very small amount?

It is the other way around. The main role is nutrient removal and I dose around 0.5ml/l daily. As a side effect, there is an improvement in sponge growth.

The methodology is described here:
http://reefkeeping.com/joomla/index...ar-dosing-methodology-for-the-marine-aquarium
RHF, the author, said the editors added the dosage table after he wrote the article, with numbers staying on the safe side. Some dose twice as much as recommended over there, including me.
