Live Rock Removal = Nitrates
Decided it was time to remove a section (approx 30%) of my live rock to make room for some minor rescaling.. Within several days, notice a nitrate build up, with 16ppm at its peak, before I decide to add some macropore and 10-15% WC per day. Nitrates >10ppm, within 2 days.

The new re-scape....

The nitrates didn't appear to affect the anemones to date, and monitoring all WP very closely ATM.

Considering a de-nitrator or bio pallets, currently using macropore/purigen and NOPOX. Any thoughts/advise on the best direction would be greatly appreciated.... :-)

Pellets are just another form of carbon dosing, similar to NOPOX. There are so many choices - you just need to do your research and decide which one is best for you.

You could also look into a small algae scrubber - @Fragalicious has recently got in some of the Santa Monica algae turf scrubbers which might be worth a look.
