My sump
I just purchasd a brand new 900x360x500 tank to make into my sump for my 4x2x1.5 DT. So I figure i could put up some pics and ask a few questions as I go a long. Thinking I'm just going to do a basic 3 section sump with inlet/skimmer -> refugium -> return

So my first question is just basic, it's 6mm thick glass and has a big wide center brace (it was a cheapy) now since I will be putting a bubble trap and dividers in will it be fine to remove the center brace? will be no need for lids and the brace can be used in the bubble trap since it's so big, win win

Pics, still been to lazy to pull it out of the box but you can see the brace I'm talking about

you will be fine removeing the bracking as long as you have a baffle installed somwhere near the middle.
my sump only has two sections. one that maintains a constant water level. and the return section.
i have in my sump carbon, rowaphos in a reactor, skimmer, heater, filter sock, and return pump
i found simplicity is the key, the less sections the easyer it is to manage.

Hi Josh,
Have to agree with Matt, no need for the centre brace. I just finished making our sump and the easiest way to space the glass dividers I found, was to use pieces of 25x19mm pine. You can pick up cheap lengths from Bunnings.

Thats a good idea, also awesome because I have a heap of offcuts laying round at the moment because I just used this to batten out my lounge room wall and hang plasterboard on
