Post 19: Chemi Clean Works !!! Clowns Are Spawning
So hopefully some people see this post and are able to use it for good. My most recent post:18 showed some of the issues i was having with Cyano and the process i went through to get rid of it. ChemiClean is the bomb!!! Worked after a few applications admittedly but it did eventually get the problem sorted along with several water changes and getting back using slat mix rather than purchased natural salt water.

I am planning on getting back to using Sea water delivered but for the time being i am keen to keep the tank steady and running well.
Plans are to clean out the IBC thoroughly then produce 750ltrs of salt water mix
Check the results to see if the IBC has anything to do with the Cyano Bacteria break out.
If not
Order some more salt water from SARDI 1000ltrs
Check results
Hopefully go forward using the SARDI water as it is a hell of lot easier than mixing up batches of 150ltrs salt mix.

Enough sad bacteria issues chat

My Gold Stripe Clowns are spawning and right in the front centre of the tank so everyone can see. I hope this video works so you can all see. Awesome news and now we will see how things go over the coming 6-7 days.

If anyone has any advice please pass it on as id love for the group to survive and understand from limited reading that keeping the other fish from eating them is not an easy task.

Congrats on cyno. And congrats on clowns too. Unfortunately they will not survive :(. Especially with tangs. Even it they did, raising & feeding is almost impossible in a designated set up let alone a reef tank. Especially with those piggy blues. ! But you should see it as a good sign of tank cruising nicely. Well done !

If you search the reefuge there is a huge write up about what needs to be done to raise the young. I read it and soon realized that it was just not a possibility.
I am sure someone will find the link to it somewhere, it was complete guide to someone trying to save and raise !

I wouldn't quite go that far, but it does take a fair amount of time, dedication and a few $'s. And, it can't happen in a display tank - the larvae would be pretty much all consumed within a short time by either the fish or the corals.

You can find some information here http://thereefuge.com/threads/the-start-of-the-long-road-to-breeding-amphiprion-ocellaris.7111/

i have more of a question, have you had many problems with your gold band maroons being aggressive?
i ask as i want some :p
The maroons are not really that aggressive but do protect themselves. I have five LARGE BTAs so they plenty of protection and this seems to keep them happy.

The male is a little timid and the female is huge so dominates the tank with out being out of control.

Probably not in a position at this point to go through the process of raising the little buggers. Still good see how its done.
