Seahorses
Hey people :)

Okay, so Melissa managed to finally give in and set up a tank of her own. The Fluval Chi is what we have at this point in time. It is 19l and looks really nice.

Here are a few questions.

1) Is it big enough for seahorse(s)?
2) Are seahorses reef safe?
3) What seahorses can I buy that will live in the same temperature as coral?
4) What do they eat and are they easy to care for?

Thanks :D

from what I know of seahorses they need a very stable environment. which could prove somewhat difficult in a 19L tank. Im sure they are reef safe, and you can get a couple of types of seahorse, one is a kuda and the other is a tropical. I would go with the tropical as they might be somewhat better in a smaller tank with temp control.
they are very slow feeders so you have to be sure they will be able to eat as they wont compete for food with other fish.
they also can get air bubbles trapped in their pouches which can cause problems, this can be rubbed out gently by hand.

personally with the experience I had with them in my Bro's shop, I dont like the idea. they can look great but can be a lot of work to keep them happy.
