I like clams and would love to have one in a tank just that all my tanks have mantis shrimps xD and the design for my large multi mantis setup doesn't have enough room for a clam ='[

I have heard they are a LOT more hardy then people give them credit, I've read a thread about someone that was easily able to keep multiple clams YET he was incapable of keeping zoa's alive....(In my opnion Zoa's are the bread n butter of all corals I have never lost 1 yet).

Talking about clams i don't eat seafood other than tuna and fish that tastes non fishy( by drowning it in vinaigrette) if that makes sense. anyway bought 2x ' vongole' clams for my mantis-put one in the tank and 1 in the freezer-imagine my amazement when i realised the clam came to life!I raced to the freezer-put the other one in and now i have 2 clams that are not being eaten but are living in the rescue tank.
Thought that the clams that they sold would be dead!

I have read somewhere and confirmation would be better rather then taking my word on the subject, however I had read somewhere that clams can actually promote health in a tank or a.k.a act as a sort of additional filtration because they consume some nasties in the water, now I am not saying that a clam can be your filtration for your system. What I am saying is that I have heard of them contributing to healthy tanks rather then just consuming the good stuff and releasing more nasty stuff into the water.

Confirmation ?
