I was wondering if anyone had any idea on what could trigger bubble tips to split . I started with 1 about 2 years ago and that became 3!.... last week 4...... halfway now to 5 the other 7" probably will not be far behind.
Water parameters are all bang on the money... so i dont think its stress.... I feed them a small piece of prawn once a week...could this be the reason? Too much good tucker?

No sure there is any science in this but I have found that almost every time I feed mine (normally twice a week), it splits. I brought 1 and ended up with 16!!!! I have had to cut down on my feeding as I struggle to find people to give them them away to.

It sounds like yours are just happy and want to reproduce.

I feed mine every week but they certainly don't split that fast. :) My one is now seven, took about a year. Nobody really knows why and theories range from multiplying when the going is good, to a survival mechanism when things are bad.

Too many of them does become a pain.

ATM I can handle the numers, they have their dedicated area and do not shift from it.
The clown fish is in anemone heaven and protects them fiercely... man can she bite!
If anyone on here lives around the whitsundays and wants a BTA come grab a freebie.
