I have noticed a algae type growth that is on my polyp coral. It is orange in color, and is starting to take over agrouping of my polyps.

I did remove it to another holding tank because it also contains a black worm that hides if light is put on them.

Can anyone tell me what the orange growth could be and what kind of worm that I described? are the worms harmful or beneficial?

I have never seen algae that colour.... are you sure its not sponge? Whats your phosphate and nitrate levels?

+1 for possible sponge. pick it up what does it feel like. sponges feel like sponges. and algae feels like algae. cant really describe the feeling.
