I need to get out more...

There was a really really old thread on here with a heap of fishing shots on it. I had the last decent fish I caught on there but that was nearly 2 years ago. Like I said I need to get out more!

Haven't really been fishing for years - used to be a coarse angler on lakes and rivers in the UK, occasional carp fishing. So different over here I haven't got into it yet - except a trip snapper fishing! Only pic I have online of our 6 snapper caught:

I have seen a couple of fishing shows from the UK where they are having serious carp fishing competitions lol. I have heard of a competition here but its just to try and pull as many out of the river in a day.... Probably hardly making a dent in the numbers though.

Love fishing, I'll post up a couple of my catches.

I'm lucky in that my old man has a rather large boat and a holiday house at one of the better fishing joints in SA. So come long weekends I generally get to do some decent fishing.

Last long weekend

Scored my new snapper pb 90 and 92cm horses, old man caught the 92cm of course

Yup caught that one when I went to qld last year. About three were landed on the boat then after that the sharks took every fish that was hooked.

Cheers @Sarg, eyre peninsula further west is where you want to go for big reds though. Where we are 6-7kg is about the standard size nothing to get excited about ^^ those up there went about 8.5kg which is rather large for yorkes. I have a pic of myself at around 10 years old holding a 14kg snapper my old man caught which came from coffin bay on the eyre peninsula.

Already begun brainwashing my boy, his favorite toy is a fishing rod:p

I grew up on a farm, and as a kid my weekend was spent catching Carp and killing them.

That sounds quite sadistic, doesn't it?

Anyway, it was a good cause.

I remember one winter, the old man drain our dam, and the shallows were literally just a bed if carp, trying to wriggle their way down into the mud. I slaughtered 50 odd carp, and left them up on the bank to rot.

The next day they were all gone.

In the months to come we noticed a spike in the fox population. ;)

As for real true blue fishing, the missus and I took off to Lakes Entrance for a weekend of fishing in Feb.
I'd literally not been fishing since I was a teen, and I just love Lakes Entrance.
We only managed to bring home some whiting and some mullet, but still, it's the time spent fishing that I'd missed. Pity I don't have any pics on my phone.
