Thoughts
So I was looking at my tank today and I noticed on the hammer I picked up 10days ago there is some growth at the back.

Want peoples thoughts on what it could be.

Looks like you use the same camera as those big foot photographers!

It has xenia like qualities, could also be a sponge....leathers can start off like this as well. I guess wait a see :)

Touch it with something and see if it retracts.

I thinking you gonna find it is hard like coralline algae. If so, it's probably fine. I can't remember what they are called.

I have similar looking stuff that is hard and is either pinkish red or white. Mine have stayed small.

But, you should touch it and see if it's rigid.

If it's what I think it is the only hazard with it is when you pick up the rocks and the little buggers stick into your hands.
