Water Results -ongoing
This place is so handy for splitting up topics in the tank! :)

Test results - 21/11/2014
All tests are Salifert, except Phos, Hanna used.

Alk - 7 (to low, what is PH?)
Calc - 400 (to low, increased each dose by 3ml)
Mag - 1140 (to low, increased each dose by 5ml)
PH - 7.9 (found Alk problem, throw in handful of unbaked Bi-carb, test Alk & PH tomorrow night.
Nitrate - 2.5 (OK)
Strontium - 16 (OK)
Potassium - 360 (bit low)
Iodide - 0.8 (bit high)
DT Phos - 0.97 (coming down)
Reactor Phos - 0.35 (hold here till DT equals)

Tonight's FTS
(There is only 1 Moo! I had to stick 2 pics together to get the pic below lol)

Yeah, why the unbaked bicarbonate? I understand that we bake it to remove carbon dioxide which will have negative impacts on the tank.

When are fish and chips going to be on the menu Ken :rolleyes
Hahaha, Jen would cut my plums off if I threw a line in to catch Moo Shane.

wth do you even feed that fish
@Sam Parker is true & correct. Moo get's oysters, prawns, tuna or mussels every second day.
Hence the high nitrates in the tank.

Unbaked Sodium Bicarbonate has the Hydrogen element which somehow helps raise pH
Sodium Bicarbonate when heated releases Hydrogen element creating Sodium Carbonate, this is what most dose to adjust Alk.
After the handful I threw in last night, pH is back to 8, Alk is back to 9.5. :)

I really thought everyone would have picked up on the 0.97 Phosphate to be honest, not the baking soda lol. :eek

Randy' Recipe instructions just make a big deal about baking the stuff.

Do you know your oxygen sat level?

I use seneye +, it tells me automatically. I thought it might be a handy device to help track parameters but in reality, the ones everyone really needs are not necessarily part of the kit. It gives me ammonia, PH, oxygen saturation, light in lux and par and some other stuff and I generally only really test nitrates separately now as everything else is stable.
