[Aspidites]

Hi all, while holidaying in sunny exmouth with the family, my three year old winds his line in and says "HEY DAD, WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!?"
Anyway after numerous examinations with the wife, we have on question. The thong is a three year olds which we threw away after this guy dropped numeros spines in it. All up it was 8 to 10cm long
WHAT IS IT?
Besides a mutant bristleworm that is.....

We call that a Sea Mouse, nasty little creatures. Mind your hands and feet around those spines too, they are a bear to remove.

There is a local species Aphrodita australis which is also known as a Sea Mouse, no doubt due to the hair like appearance of the fine spines.

We have small ones here, about 10cm max, I know they can get quite large in tropical waters.
