Aquarium Online Supplies
I've been comparing prices around the place on Maxspect Ethereal lights. They interest me and I am considering whether it's worth upgrading and working out if I could get away with having 2, or if I would need 3 for my Aqua Reef 400. Dimensions are 132cm long, 52cm deep, 73/88cm high. I see that http://www.aquariumonlinesupplies.c...hting-system-with-icv6-controller-bundle.html sells 1 light and controller for $577.36. The same light is $799.95 for 1 light at http://www.majesticaquariums.com.au/maxspect-ethereal-led-lighting-system.html. $850 odd with a controller.

How is it this much cheaper at the AOS store? Has anyone bought from them before? It's a really significant saving which could make the difference between actually buying a new light at all.

For people with the Ethereal... how do you find it? The specs say it can light up to 30 inches deep. Do you notice the strength in your own aquarium? Interested to know what people think.

Online stores don't have the overheads of your LFS, particularly if they only sell equipment. That said, if you compare prices of all other products at Majestic, you'll find they are super expensive compared to everywhere else. I don't bother looking there anymore.

Thanks lads! It turns out that the website may be owned by a certain shady operator who does indeed specialise in grey imports. I thought there just had to be something else behind it. Majestic is expensive, but compared to Reef Secrets and all the other stores who list prices online they were pretty average. To have a 25% variance in cost was pretty questionable to me.

I have indeed spoken to my favourite LFS owner and I am just having to sort out a few doctors before I know if I have the money to do it or not. I was a good girl and went to the dentist for the first time in years the other day and now I'm going to have to sort out my dislocating jaw- and it seems I need surgery to fix my apparently completely blocked sinus.

I am very interested in seeing the progression of coral growth under Ethereal. The specs show that there should be an improvement in the light penetration at the max depth of my aquarium. *forever hopeful*

Are suggesting Mr A is shady? Shock, horror and lightning bolts from heaven.:rofl

Sorry I assumed (stupidly) that most people realised this was his current attempt at specialising in not so great equipment and terrible service.

Amazing! The power usage and heat make me wary about halides. I have thought about it a bit lately... More than likely I won't be able to change lights anyhoo. Husband did have a brief chat with me regarding money stuff... Damn sensible human reminding me that I don't have a job anymore! I'll wait and see.

Be VERY wary of sinus surgery. I had one 10 years ago that went HORRIBLY awry and it took another surgery and laser treatments to fix. I have severe OSA and it diminished it quite a bit, but at the cost of having pain and bleeding out of the blue for 5 years. Research the doc(s) that would be doing it if it's possible there. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me @ezza .

I just bought an Ethereal and I love it. I'd like to get a few of the CoralBox moons for the other tanks, my DSunY lights are 3-4 years old and are showing their age.

I consulted a different dentist, who isn't worried, so I will happily avoid it now. I also found a new antihistamine that is working really well, it's awesome to not have my nose running like a tap. The Ethereal may happen one day, but it won't be soon (unless there is a disaster with my lights).

I just wanted to warn you of the risks. Knowing what I know now, I never would have had it done. And if I'd have known that my GP was getting kick backs from referring it to surgeons I'd have sued both their asses off over sending me to an incompetent buffoon. The surgeon took off right after the surgery on his honeymoon with his new trophy wife. I started bleeding a few hours after the surgery and had to have M drive me back to hospital and the new intern was clueless, they had to get another ENT in to stop the bleeding. I'd lost about 1200ml of blood by the time they got it stopped and at that time I didn't bleed very easily. If you look at my cross eyed right now I bleed like mad from all of the anticoagulants. I still can't go out in bitter cold weather without wearing my balaclava.
