Its alright, I would never hurt him, he's one of the few fish that has a name in my tank :) We're talking seconds in the open air before he was back in water again.
I watched to see where he was hiding then lifted it out. No need to block the exits either. Just exploiting their natural behaviour to stay put in a cave, no nets or chasing or stress. I've done this twice now and got him both times. He is going to be moved one more time in a few weeks/months so hopefully he doesn't wise up!
Blennies are some of my favourite fish, I like them because of their antics and damn near bulletproof hardiness. Gobies are a close second because of the same reason.
