This is REALLY lazy of me to not give you links as well, but it is worth looking up what GARF has to say about the benefits of mangrove mud in a marine tank and the research that has been done on mangrove mud-flats around the world. It is awe-inspiring stuff - a teaspoon of mangrove mud from Australia has more life in it than pretty much anything known to man.... apparently .... its been a long time since I read the info :p
