Killing time so I decided to read the product reviews then noticed there were none and each had a message about insufficient privileges to post. Is this a feature on its way out, on its way in?

I would say the data migration thing is locking this feature.
Been out of the loop for a while though.

This feature is on its way out. The new website will have a proper review system, and all users will be able to add products to be reviewed.
