Shops - Almost Ready
Hi everyone,

As you have all seen, there is a new link in the navigation menu. This is the market platform that will soon be launched. I would like to take a moment to briefly explain how the system will work for different users.

Registered Members - The system will be completely free for registered members, should they choose to sell products in it. Products must be second hand, or non-business related. A user can not start up their own OLFS using the platform. They may use it to sell items they do not wish to own anymore. This can also be used for the sale of corals, etc.

Business Users - Businesses have two choices to use the store.

Option 1 (default) - Every item a business lists, will incur a 3% fee regardless of if the item is sold or not. As an example, if a business lists "product x" for $100, they will need to pay $3 for that listing. There are no refunds. This is to prevent businesses contacting members directly to bypass the sale fee. Businesses will also no longer be able to use the buy/trade/sell forums to list their products.

By doing this, it helps with the extremely high server bills, coding bills, and hours and hours of work put into the site every single week.

Option 2 - If a business chooses to do so, they can pay a fee of $85 per month to set up their own store without listing fees. This means the business can put as many products up for sale as they wish, without paying anymore than a $85 flat fee.

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

The final touches are being made to the shops feature. There are a few more template edits to go, and a small bit of coding done to enable the multi-site framework within the shops. They will be here very soon.

Thanks.

Nice one.

It will be interesting to see how many businesses use it and how - eg the likes of this thread selling corals/fish where businesses tend to list all they have.

Thanks chimaera,

I am not sure how many will use it, but I really do hope people give it a go. The site has had hundreds of hours spent developing it, it will be nice to see the features getting used once they are available.

Thanks.

Just a suggestion... in the live stock category, can you add another sub category which is invertebrates or others?
