Time For Some Light ....
Been a little quiet so time for an update.

I have finally replaced the PL24 tube and DIY jaycar LED's with some decent lights.

I now have the following lights retro fitted in the hood after removing all old lighting fixtures

Ecoxotic Panorama Pro Blue 445nm
Ecoxotic Panorama Pro Blue / White 12k with an inline dimmer
Ecoxotic Stunner Strip Magenta

Here are some pics of the install

Old fixtures stripped out and hood cleaned up a little....

Definitely brings the colors out which I love. Although it is very difficult to get the iphone to take a pic of what you actually see. If anyone has any tips on this please feel free to pass on lol.

I have also taken out the bio balls from the middle compartment at the back to see if this affects the Nitrate levels as i think they might be keeping the nitrate levels a little higher than they could be. See what happens.

Cheers for looking and also any comments or suggestions.

Looks great! Think you should look into replacing that splash guard with some clear perspex ... that must be eating away at a lot of light output.

Try vinegar or a mild acid to clean up the splash guard. If its scratched I am with Chim, go Perspex. You will be amazed how much brighter you lights will be!

I have tried to get an original replacement splash guard but none available.

Any suggestions as to where I could get one made up ?

The problem i see being that the shape itself probably isnt too much of a drama but the fact that a section of it is stepped to provide some more room for the lights might be an issue, not sure.

You can see its the main rectangle section closes to the curved front of the hood.

Definately open to suggestions though because yeah im sure it would cut out a lot of light.

Just take it to any plastics place and show them, they should be able to make something up.
