I was just about to suggest the same as the Doc!! First time I saw a crab's shell I had heart failure thinking that the little chomper had died before his new home rocked up to collect him! Nearly jumped out of my skin when I looked in from above and saw a second one!!! LOL

Crab moults can be deceptive, I have been caught out a few times, particularly when my red porcelain crab 'died'.

Then it actually died and I thought it was a moult ...
