Introduction hey everyone i have been into the hobby for about a year but I've only had this mix reef tank for 6 mouths or so now and I've only been a member of this site for a few weeks now and i thought it was about time that i made a tank journal on hear so we all can see the changers to my tank over the time that i will have it:)
Support systems:
tank is a 175 L aqua marine 900
protein skimmer is a 100 gal SA-2012 venturi driven protein skimmer
UV STERILIZER is a pond one 9 watt sterilizer
FILTER UNIT MariSys 240 Series 2 upgrading it very soon to a reefuge tank!
LIGHTING is just the ones that come with the aqua marine 900 i want to upgrade to leds
CHILLER is just a fan and i use frozen bottles of water works ok
Chemical additions:
red sea additives

OK NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF THE LIFE IN MY TANKLive Stock:
FISH
a miss banned clown fish
a sleeper goby
and a devil blenny
INVERTEBRATES
coral banned shrimp
two nassarius snails
cleaner crabs... when i got my live rock i got heaps of cleaner crabs the rock come from the great barrier reef
and local snails from rock pools
CORALS
HAMMER CORAL
duncan coral
leather coral
green morphs
and a few i cart rember the names of sorry
like i said im still pretty new to the hole reefing thing but im geting there lol:p

like wave makers and stuff ,when i get my refuge tank up and going all there will be in the tank is the over flow and wave makers is thats what you meant?

Been using cheapies for the past 3 years without a problem. The Sunsun 12,000L ones which costs 40 bucks each lol.... You probably wont need that much flow, but they do make smaller ones.

Otherwise both tunze and vortech are great brands.

i couldnt use a cheapy again. tunzes arnt much dearer for the non controllable one!

I have 3 cheap JVP 3000lpm in my tank and I hate them! Since I won a Tunze 6015 in a comp on here I am the new tunze fanboy!

As a matter of fact I just bought a pair of Tunze 6055 pumps from a very generous reefuge member! Thanks Shane! ;)

Now I just need a controller...

ive used the jvps hydors tunzes and vortech they are all good pumps except the jvps.
my pick would be between tunze or vortech tho.
i found the mp40 to be noisy but it moves alot of water.
mp10 is excellent rather quiet compared to the mp40 still louder then any tunze tho, the vortech also has an excellent controller
tunze 6055's with usb multicontroller were excellent couldnt fault them at all except for their footprint!

I couldnt do the vortechs as I dont have the clearance behind the tank and I really dont want anymore noise. I think they will only be as big as the JVPs and there will only be the 2 tunzes instead of the 3 cheapies and due to the shape of the tank I can easily fit 2 pumps behind the rocks in the back corner and have on pushing down each back wall and rebounding around the front wall. When I get the controller I think I will be able create some awesome currents.
