The Build And Fill
Hey everyone!

Has been a while since I posted. Decided on a whim to upgrade as my little aquamedic 80L running for nearly two years now has experienced too much growth and can barely fit anything.

I purchase a CADE HL-600 new gen, 250L.

I've never had a sump tank before... in the first hour of filling, I managed to flood the floor... a sign to what the future brings haha.

I've noticed it's incredibly loud though and already driving me nuts :(.

Aw man you got the new new model haha

Are you getting a gurgling noise or a flushing one? Because I had to adjust the plumbing and I'm also using both overflow pipes so there's not an emergency one but the tank is pretty quiet doing it that way :) My overflow box pipe height on the second pipe is much lower too

Awesome tank choice though!! :) I love mine!

Is that a kessil to light the sump? lol i was going to do the same thing but was scared people might call me crazy :P

the pipe for the overflow is quite high were you given any other short lengths? also the noise will change as you adjust the ball valve to slow down the rate it sucks the water down, is the noise a gurgling? you could also turn that pipe into a durso with airline and make it near silent too?

I have a mate that was complaining about his cade HL1200 making noise and adjusting it helped but because he has 2 drains and one return we made a durso and he was over the moon

It's a flushing sound. Hmmm, I have no idea what a durso is but as silent as possible is best.

I recieved a smaller bit of PVC so will chuck that on the emergency.

And yup! That's a kessil sump light... i went a little overboard... :P

Wrangy do you have a doser set up? It's a shame there isnt enough room for a doser or auto top up inside the stand. So im assuming everyone just does it on the outside.

he didn't glue any of it and took the parts to bunnings to find the best fit ones i think he might even have used conduit

Looking good mate! :)

I also have the new weir/sump on my Cade and I have re-plumbed it slightly which has made it silent as the plumbing was a little strange to me. A lot of your noise will be coming from your weir, the water level in my weir is pretty much up the top. I even noticed the water level in your sump seems a bit high.

Where you plan to put your refugium, the little black grate dividing the fuge and the return pump section, the water (I believe) is supposed to go through the holes on this grate instead of going right over the top - This is how I have set mine up.

close the red tap in small increments to raise the water level in the weir/display which will lower the water level in your sump and also reduce the noise :)

Hey mate i found adding a 20 mm electrical conduit onto the end of the down pipe helped immensely and was able to get it near silent slowly ajusting the ball valve (it takes alot)

Adding the bend alowed any air to escape easier reducing the flushing noise

Hope this helps

I have glued some an L shape support structure with double sided tape, for my dosing pumps. Upper left hand side.
I moved the sump to the far right and I will be placing the containers on the left side. The space is limited, but enough to hold 4x 900ml bottles.

@riley, generally i use the long seed ones. I had 7 seeds and only 4 grew. I gave the others away. I will be getting some more seeds soon hopefully.

@Franklin Dattein What type of doser is that? Hmmm, maybe I should have moved my sump over a bit.
