interesting that you drop down the purple, im 255 blue, 255 purple whites at like 120 i think maybe 150 max

thats what I am thinking of changing, during the day tanks seems a bit too white, going to drop the whites to around 150 and purples full

ok, so time to get on top of dosing. Using Randys. Current levels

Mag 1100
Calc 340
Alk 9.8

So need to raise mag and calc and drop alk. According to the reef calculator I need to below

that just seems like an aweful lot? Can anyone confirm before I get dosing?

Also what is best, add them in a few batches, or use the dosing pump to dose it in?

Yup its right. I would add a little at first then re test if you havent dosed it before, then raise the calc and mag over a few days or a week to be safe. I topped up my calc the other day from 410 to 430 and used over half a litre.

Im no expert, but should magnesium be around 1350ppm? Or are you aiming for that number for a specific reason? That does seem like quite a lot. But in saying that, your system is 700L so it probably evens out. Dosing pumps seem to be the preferred choice. But that's only going from what I've read.

cheers luke, going to mix it up tonignt and slowly add it, them dose to maintain. 1350 is top end of the scale mate

shouldnt need to mix it, just drop table spoons at a time in the sump and let it mix it up

ah, had already mixed it. Added 500ml of the calcium and700ml of the mag

Actually looks like something was munching on its fins.
