Thanks for all the kind comments :) The bionic angel wasnt powered at all, it was simply getting pushed around by the gyre flow, and gave me a quick reference for how the water flow was going.

Ryan, i have the skimmer in 25cm's and it seems to be loving working on a larger water volume. I am having to clean it a bit more regularly now as with the ghost feeding it is pulling some revolting smelling crap out.

U should put in fake peppermint angels like at Macna lol
Lol, fake peppermint angel would be about the only way i could ever get my hands on something remotely like one! Guess I will just be settling for more common centropyge sp.

On the tank front, seeing as the diatoms are thinning out (snails are loving the smorgasboard) and the water params continue to test perfectly, I have added some brown frags as testers to the tank. Will monitor them and see how they go, and then post some photos later this week :)

First live fish might not be too far away!

Hiya Jamo!

Gonna be a blenny in first, just to bolster the CUC and utilitarian purposes. Thinking red spot or a red-streak blenny.
After that there may be a little wait whilst other additions get sorted/sourced and in the right order...

After the initial nitrogen cycle with zeovit-and base rock, yesterday I was happy enough (truth be told. I was extremely drunk and practising the forbidden art of rum reefing)...with the water params to start adding a few corals, which ended up being a few more than intended just yet :p

Still some diatoms hanging about as to be expected, but the CUC are starting to make an impact. With Copepods being noticeably effective in munching their way through it :D

enough jabber...pics

Cheers Jason :D

Honestly I barely even considered LEDs, There is still so much to be developed in the LED department IMO, so I stuck with tried and tested t5's for now... I am really looking forward to seeing how the ATI LED PM goes and the GHL Mitras look the business, so im not oppossed to LED's down the track ;)

Time for an update!

Fish added! Diatoms gone, coraline and coral growing and colour returning :D

Too much purple/blue in this tank now that I can see the colours coming through. Am on the lookout for some nice frags of other colours!

Love it. What is that fish you love, it's amazing!

Are you planning the semi-bare bottom or is that just as it is now with the flow?

That's a Potters Angel (centropyge potteri) endemic to hawaii. Awesome fish. Can be hard to get eating prepared foods and like all centropyge sp. can nip LPS, SPS and clam mantles. So far mines a model citizen and eating pellets from my hand

Bare island look is how its gonna stay now, i am over raking the rubble back every day lol. Good thing the look is growing on me!

Yeah Matt. The flow from the closed loop pumps deflects off the glass and disperses all over, pretty forcefully too. The current pulls all the ruble back as you can see.

Ordered a 100mm f2.8L macro lens so will have a play of that when it arrives (hopefully today!)

Not much to update, still trying to dial in the correct maintenance doses for zeo, but feel im making progress. Have addded a school of 15 vanderbuilt chromis. Brings another level of acctivity to the tank and they are schooling very nicely. No photos of them yet though.

Too many words... some pics. Good God, Ive gotten myself a macro lens....Apologies.

the tank is looking great Greg! i really like to scape and the rock work on the right hand side

I have a question, In the last full tank shot it looks like the sand is not covering the bottom only around the LR, did you do that for the look or other reasons?
