Decided to acid bath all the rock i'm planning to use for my scape.... a quick pictorial.

the Acid i used, available from pool shops (dont go to Clark rubber, its literally 3 times as expensive)

After.... think it made a difference ;)

These rocks are now soaking in tubs, with Lanthium gl. Hexahydrate to draw out whatever banked PO4's are still trapped.
Then they will be sun dried and assembled into the scape

The Closed loop holes are all drilled, bulkheads in and some plumbing started. Finished making the acrylic with router cut overflow last week, so thats in too.
ai1167.photobucket.com_albums_q636_gmeller_IMG_567827.jpg

DUBV's for CL should be here tomorrow, and then I can plumb them up and give em a crack ;)
Might also have time to modify the MP40 wet-side cages that I am planning to use as intake screens for the CL,
And at some stage start assembling the sump and powerboard! Not much to do :eek

Thanks for all your kind comments, encouragement and for tagging along!

The rock came up nicely, and looked like it was a 'fun' process!! I expect an amazing scape with those pieces.

Tank is looking awesome too.

Im not totally stoked with my flow and believe there is room for improvement. Seems my point velocity out of the penductors is down, so it doesnt have enough punch to generate adequate flow. Im ordering some different eductors from Premium aquatics to have a play with, ones with a smaller orifice which should create a higher back pressure pre-enductor, then a greater pressure drop and thus an increase in dishcarge/point velocity. Really want to get this gyre pumping. Having said that though, i did have to mix 10mm coral rubble with the aragonite to stop it flying around the tank.....

Thanks for reading

Tank is day 10 of zeo-cycle. Here's the finished scape now the new eductors have turned up. I gotta say, these eductors made all the difference in comparison to the pacific coast flow accelerators. I had to make some custom angled (70 degree) elbows to prevent wet floor syndrome, But have now got an extremely nice gyre effect happening. Fish are gonna be fit from swimming so hard :) This came at the expense of being able to hide them within the rock-work though, as they are much bigger than the previous penductors.

Anyway... pikchures. :p

Dosing pump shelf. Hoses are routed behind the "power-board" to hide them.

Yeah was good finally putting a face to the name, I really got more than I thought I was bargaining for with that meet, I went thinking I wouldn't grab anything and ended up with half a dozen corals. They are all going well except for a fungia which wasn't even fragged, of all the things to loose that seemed the strangest.

I'm actually about to drop out to Wayne's tonight, thought I'd grab a few stombs to help clean the sand bed up.

How far after the 14 days are you going to go before introducing some cuc?

Likewise bud ;) Sounds strange with the fungia?

Im not sure with the zeocycle mate. I only added a ~3kg peice of LR the other day to speed things along...i'm still getting zero's for Amm, N'trite, N'trate and PO4.
Have been ghost feeding the tank as well. Once i get an amm spike and then have that drop to 0 again then ill add some CUC. Was on the phone to G. Alexander yesterday and he told me to wait till i can spike it despite nearing the end of the 14 day zeo cycle. Using 100% base-rock has thrown expected times out the window. Slow but steady on this tank :D

I don't think I ever really saw a spike I gave up testing after about 3 weeks though, I also wasn't using the zeolites, which I would have though would have made it a bit more obvious.

I will be keen to see if you do end up getting anything, a few herbivores may help a little though

This build is looking nice mate! tank looks beautiful and stand as well. Love the fake fish, is it battery operated or just goes with water flow?

For flow I would suggest 40 watts of Eheim pump per eductor. (from my observation in my tank)
Builds looking spectacular.

Congratulations, Greg, on a spectacular setup that has left no stone unturned.

This will be wicked for sure, infact it is already!

Cheers,
Jamie.
