Thanks Matt :worship for posting my photo's on here
And thank you all for the nice compliments , I love Hammers , if you havn't noticed already :D , I have been collecting them for over 6 years , and find them facinating , I am always looking for that special one , they are out there hiding , i use a hand held blue LED torch , a Fluke RLD2 , With one of these you will find them , The colours will POP and home it goes ,
I have over 30 hammers in my 7 ft tank , plus frogsporn and torches , I keep frogsporn with the hammers , however i have my torches on a seperate Bommie to be safe , I have a big skimmer ,BK Supermarin 250 , so i am able to feed my fish and corals plenty of food , I use 5 types of Ocean Nutrition Flake , and O N Frozen food ( aprox 10 types ) , i give them 20 cubes a day , this keeps everything well fed , and what the fish don't eat , the corals do , And what is left over the Skimmer takes care of that .
One word of warning , do not have strong direct flow on them , that can damage their tenticles on themselves or nearby rocks , which can lead to Brown Jelly Disease , If you get this , remove the coral in a plastic container , carefully , to not let the jelly float around the tank , Then remove the affected head , and give them a dip in Melafix or Revive :)

Great idea on the UV torch to spot the great corals. I lucked out yesterday, bought a plain looking torch frag for $5 ... put it under my lights and it positively glows gold. If I had spotted that at the LFS, I would have bought their other stock of it too!

quick question, one of my hammers that i recived the other day in the mail had a bit of damage on it, the side of it was cracked and a piece of the skeleton has fallen off and some of the little polyps have come off to, il put up a photo tomorrow. what should i do with it? should i cut the head off?

I would give it a dip in Revive , and place it on the bottom of the tank in a low flow area , I would then monitor it to see that no Brown Jelly forms on it
All the best :)
