I love you build, you will have no worrys about your be an animal surface skimming project too. A path well travelled by many a reefer.

Keep on building, looking forward to the aquascape.

Finished my stand, even added a bolt on height adjustable light holder, adjust from right on tank height to around 350mm above tank height so should give me some room to play, just need to buy some bolts for it, then it's time to pretty up the weld s little more and paint the thing.

Unfortunately I'm not going to have a chance to play with all till my bathroom is back to being a bathroom and it currently looks like this :(tiler is due in, in around 3 weeks time and I have a whole heap of work ahead of me

My favorite update so far however, once I finish painting the ceiling tonight my job here is done. It's funny how a room which is so small can take the most time

You thought to powder coating it if your planning to cover it with a skin?

Not since my 12yr GT freestyle bike have I invested in powder coating, so unaware if the costs are reasonable today?

I have already painted it in some rust preped paint. I have used it on a boat trailer before and it held up pretty good, and that is being submerged completley in salt water so I'm think it should do the job fine

started putting some thought towards lighting, and made up a frame out of that clip-it stuff from bunnings, which will hold 4 lengths of H beam ally which should be plenty of heat transfer, well enough to keep the LED's in the proper temp range. Also it is going to be mounted on some draw runners I had lying around so the whole thing can be pushed to the back of the tank for easier access for maintenance etc

Great idea, it will hold the weight no worries?. How much travel do you have to play with at the back of the tank?

It's not going to go completely behind the tank it will only over hang the back by around 100mm, so when slid back it will open up the front 400mm of the tank, better then nothing:D

I think it should carry the weight fine , it's a runner from a TV unit which I left a draw out of and the other draw with the same runner has my PS3 in it which it handles fine.

Stole my misses point and shoot = not so washed out. winner

Dummied the tank up on the stand at home today, this is going to be the finished spot. Stand is a little high I reckon now that I have it at home but will be sweet. Still need to make up some inserts to fill in/clad it

Also went to perth Aquarium when I was over in Perth on the weekend figured I'd throw some pics up. Be ready for lots of photos (only some of what I actually took), I could have spent all day there but the girl was getting bored

Late reply, but it's only thin 6mm, with 12mm base, picked it up for pretty much nothing, I just over did the silicone in the corners a touch

Have no real updates which makes me sad, but I do have typhon controller, meanwell drivers and a heap of LED's finally on their way. The misses might just have to miss out on a chrissy present :D

Finally, my little boy is due any day now, who knows when I will get time to put my LED's together

Spent my christmas bonus for the year on my LED build ;)

Ended up buying bidgelux LED's from aquastyle due to budget, but added meanwell's and a typhon controller. Probably run between 50-60 LED's I reckon and put some left overs over the sump (there will be plenty of leftovers)

Also bought a solder station for the build, haven't soldered since year 10 at school so we will see how this goes, also a heat sink for over the sump

On holidays for the next 4 weeks, the plan is to get the tank to the point of filling and cycling. Just have to work around the new born some how

Built a small LED 12x3w bridgelux, thinking I'm going to setup a nano with my quarantine tank for the time being, then can transfer everything into the 4' when I get it running finally
