No, they are higher ... 20ppm or so. Waiting to get hold of a seachem nitrate kit to know for sure.
you should prob have a little phos in there. Have you read up on the redfield ratio?

Not sure if this helps and I hope I am not preaching to the choir. But there is a little light reading ;) Just my opinion though. I was once told you can have an aquarium which is too clean and that will sometimes give you issues.

I've been reading up on the Redfield ratio already but good to know someone else is thinking similarly ;)

I'd like to reduce my nitrate levels ... but when I switch out my Rowaphos I'll be using a little less in the reactor, and might also try feeding a little heavier. My skimmer barely pulls anything out ... I was worried for a while it wasn't working but I think there's just bugger all to pull!

Tank being 'too clean' is also the reason why I've struggled with some zoas and acans recently.

Contrary to popular belief you can have an aquarium thats too clean ;)

Was hoping I did not rub you up the wrong way. I am also glad someone else has been reading into this.

chim if you wanna sell your red goni im 1st in line :)
It hasn't been doing too well unfortunately ... has been mostly closed up for a month now. I moved it to the smaller tank thinking the ULNS wasn't agreeing with it either, and have been feeding it daily with reef roids. Starting to see some improvement, slowly but surely ... though still only 1cm extension at most. Really, really hoping I can get it to pull through as it is an amazing coral.

when i had my tank crash it was the only coral i didn't give up on....took a month or 2 to get back to where it is now (the super toxic one) but still not as large as it once was, although its brighter than its ever been :) so dont give up, but if you ever wanna sell it...leos your buyer

Didn't realise it had a temperature sensor too..
So ... in about the same time it takes to create a human life, I have finally got my dosing pump setup to run. And I realised what a idjit I am at the same time.

I have tried setting this up twice before. Both times I got pissed off because the pumps didn't stop when i told them to.

Turns out it is handy to read the manual sometimes ... I had assumed Time 1 = Start, Time 2 = End. Realised tonight that Time 1 = Start, Time 2 = running time!! :cum

One other thing I realised is that on a nano, the dosing times need to be very small. At the slowest dosing level, 0.05ml per second, it will dose 1ml in 20 seconds. Which is enough once or twice per day for what I need.

Set it up to run"
  • Liquid Reef on pump 1
  • Koral Colour in pump 2
  • Alk (C-balance part B) on pump 3.
I'll dose the following by hand now and then:
  • Iodion
  • Replenish
  • Restore
Main priority is to stabilise my Alk. Other levels always seem fine (last tests were Mag 1260, Calc 500, Alk 4.5!).
Excited to add my goodies from Oceanarium this weekend - Squamosa clam, some SPS and some awesome zoas.

"in about the same time it takes to create a human life" since no time was actually mentioned you are either bragging or nicknamed flash :p

Good to see you have it working, nice bit of kit.
