I love your scape!! It's going to look even better once all those sticks are grown out!

The anthias had the same affect in my tank they brought all the other fish out to play!

cheers all,

smushed banana is quite often a coating needing removal from my glass :D

My blenny is actually really lazy, he just swims like that most of the day. In one spot center of tank on a 45 degree angle in the current eating all the bits and pieces that float by, and when he not there he's in his little cave.

Couple of crappy frag growth comparisons, hopefully they should speed up a bit now with a lot more bigger water changes.

Did some testing tonight since I have been feeding 3x a much since putting the anthias in. Everything seems to be going good.

Phos: 0.02 Hanna (I still don't run any form of phosphate control)
Nitrate: 0 salifert

And the usual
Cal: 450 rs test kit, need to back off that dosing a little
Alk: 6.7 rs test kit
Mag: 1330 salifert

I have been seeing more macro growing in the dt, so I'm guessing there is more phos there then I am reading it's all been eaten up by algae.

i consistently test 0 phos (red sea test kit) and still have a massive hair algae problem... From what I have read it is due to the algae eating the phos as soon as it is in there and growing at a massive rate! You should start looking at a form of phos control as it will start to get out of hand with heavy feeding!

Yea I'm looking into my options at the moment. I do have a reactor and half a container of rowaphos sitting here, but in the long term it does become expensive. I have run lanth in those tank when first started, but it is so powerful I think it will be too much for my levels of phos.

Have a new fishy arriving tomorrow, decided it would be wise to quarantine this one as I have heard a lot of horror stories. I beefed up the back of this cupboard and added a cross brace hope it holds up.

Whats the new fish?

Phos control has to be one of the highest ongoing costs with a marine tank thats why I am trying a algae scrubber but I dont think it will do the job I want for SPS but should be fine for everything else..

Probably around 4", grows to a max of 6" in a home aquarium apparently, around 8" in the wild.

Just meant to be really bad for ich and hard to acclimatise. But it was stressing a little yesterday pacing the tank. Seems chilled out now just cruising round, chucked some macro from my sump and he's been chomping on it when floating by.

I lost the tang yesterday, pretty cut about it. Looked happy in the morning gone by the time I got home. Will make a thread about it soon though.

In other news. Sha-wing

Bad week for fish in my tank last week, got home from work to find a dried up anthia on the floor. Another of my anthias has been hiding in a cave the past week with a bung eye, it's popping out of it's head. Have been told it's probably from some form of trauma being hit on a rock or something and it should come good, so I have my fingers crossed.

Picked up a few new corals this week, an awesome small purple plating monti, a tri colored lobo, small hystrix which I fragged up as it had some really old looking dead pieces hanging off it, and grabbed a piece of this which they had chopped up. They said it was a type of hystrix but it looks more stylo to me but not fat like one, this is it before chopping

this is my monti, taken from their fb page too, I dont have any form of camera at the moment to take a pick in my tank

Should really update this at some point, a little bit has changed. Started running pellets, had yet another anthia jump, lost a nice milli and acro (I am thinking connected to the start up of the pellets) and have added a number of frags etc and currently all my corals are looking spectacular. I will do some pic updates soon
