Those frags will fill out nicely! I don't think you will have any problems with the xenia fixing to the rock, mine had a piece on the glass from about 5cm away.

my advice would be to take the xenia off the main rock structure and give it it's own little rock away from the rest. It is very invasive and fast growing, will take over large amounts of rock nearby and apart from pulling a rock out and drying it out is can be very hard to remove.

Incase you cant tell, I'm not much of a fan of it, after it took over a lot of my nano

Give soft corals a week or so to attach

The bit I tried was attached in about 4 days I think, I left the band on it a bit longer just to make sure. I agree with Josh it spreads really fast and can take over onto more rocks quickly.

Thanks for advice guys. Looks like two corals have attached, will give it some more days to make sure. Now I have got a major brown algae problem, had to find out the hard way that to always use RO water. Looking at buying a RO unit early next year. Phosphate 0.5 and nitrite 40. Must have been high all this time but the algae only started since I turned up the lighting. Any advice on that?

Just a tip on attaching the softies ... make sure the elastic bands aren't too tight. If they are, that part will just turn to mush and die off.

I have even had Xenia polyps drop off and colonise the main rock work of my old tank. The gap between Xenia island and main rock work was 20 - 25 cms! That stuff is crazy

Its usually just a pale color but it provides movement and is very easy to keep, I love mine and it really hasn't caused any hassles in the tank. Mine took a couple of days to settle in properly but as long as it has some flow that isn't too strong it should do well.

They sometimes go and hide then come out in a few days time. They also do the same when they moult. Clown wont go near the shrimp!
