Sorry @slin1977 ,
I don't want to rain on your parade, however in that pictured tank there is only one fish and the sand bed looks very clean so I assume your doing regular WC aslo .
these two factors wouldn't cause the tank to have a huge load to combat.
Hahaha, no parades rained on here mate. This is simply an experiment going in the opposite direction to carbon dosing.
Sorry for the confusion , that was a photo taken 2.5 months ago when I first threw in the media.
I documented things better on my TJ and will bring over some photos to this thread.

What I can show you is a photo taken when I was away from my neighbor , no glass clean in 2.5 months, no water change in 4 months. Yes there are two fish in the tank, bear in mind that most of the food ends up in the coast to coast and most fish tank sitters are heavy handed when it comes to feeding too.

Anyway what's more interesting is now that the Siporax is nearing maturity, tested tank water was 0.00 for nitrate and phos - three slabs of fresh flat rock were thrown into the display. Look forward to seeing how the Siporax copes with that as in the past I've had up to 0.50 phosphate leach out into a bucket in 24 hours.

That's pretty cool.. After adding the new slabs of rock yesterday my phos has gone from 0.00 to 0.03
And after that bit of excitement, more info just come through after a quick test , 30 hours of soaking, water is back to 0.00 ( no carbon dosing ) I am amazed as this is fresh green live rock with fan worms and all.

@slin1977 really liking the pagoda rock, wasn't sure about it at first but it's grown on me. Love the scape.

I've just received 4L of Siporax, way more than will fit in my sump. Had enough room for only a litre on top of some current marine pure. The rest will hopefully go into a future upgrade.

Well, the pagoda belongs in fresh water scape. For now it lives in the garden , bring on the flat live rock.

Back again, reporting for duty.
Did I mention the last time I dosed bacteria or carbon (Zeo bac , Zeo Start ) was at the beginning of adding Siporax to the rinse bucket before it entered the weir?

Well 3 months later I now have to dose nitrate AND phosphate to the tank.
My tank can reduce nitrate from 15ppm to 0 and phosphate from 0.03 to 0 within 24 hours

No carbon dosing , no filter sock , no GFO no pellets .

I bought 1 box from Aquaristic last weekend, $31 for the 15mm 290g. I wanted to see how well it would fit in my sump ... I reckon even if I leave the Marine Pure Balls in there (elevated away from the floor on egg crate) I can add a couple more boxes and still leave room for chaeto.

Any issues with leaving it in its netting?

I think they suggest to keep it in the netting, makes for easy cleaning.

Also cheato probably won't be required or wont grow at all if it works as well for you as it has for others.

Some updates-
Capabilities of my Siporax
•Daily addition of NO3 to raise display tank to 25ppm Salifert tests 0 In under 24 hours.
•Daily addition of 5ppm PO4 tests 0 in under 24 hours

100ppm NO3 solution / 10ppm PO4 in evaporation top up water takes three days to fill my tank and daily morning dose of 10ppm NO3 and 2ppm PO4 reads 0 at night time test.

2 x NO3 test kits calibrated - ok

Next test.....

4 x double normal amount feeding for 2 days ( left over pellets strewn on tank floor )plus 2 cubes brine shrimp and half cube oyster eggs per day,
Plus auto top off NO3 / PO4 water solution gives Salfert NO3 reading of
